Alpha meeting in Budapest

the Alpha meeting will take place in Budapest, Hungary 30th April - 2nd May at the Hilton Hotel. We will take part and exhibit. Our two product specialists / researchers; Ann-Sofie Forsberg and Anna Niläng Laesker will be there...if the Vulcanic ashes has lifted its blanket over the aeronautic sky of Europe.

PureSperm for stem and cancer cell research and clinical applications

Chui-Yee Fong et al, show in a publication in the "Stem Cell Rev and Rep", that Puresperm provides good cell separation and enrichment with higher viable cell counts and greater number of fractions compared to Percoll. PureSperm being superior and safer compared to Percoll would be a better alternative for cell separation and enrichment in stem and cancer cell research and clinical applications.

Vitrification workshop

In January Nidacon held a Vitrification workshop for embryologists and distributors. A small group of distributors and embryologists from a variety of destinations around the globe including Turkey, Norway, Egypt and China took part.
We started the training with lunch, followed by a eventful program with a variety of speakers sharing their knowledge. A splendid supper ended the day after a practical demonstration of the vitrification process by Thorir Hardarson from the fertility centre at Gothenburg. Day 2 began with practical training on the density gradient,  staining  and cryopreservation techniques using Nidacons  PureSperm 40/80, and Cryprotec II reagents. We ended the day and the workshop with some lunch sandwiches.

A big thank's to all the participants. It was a pleasure having you all as guests!

A new more effective Freezing medium

We have improved our cryo solution in a way that not only improves its performance but also makes it three times more economical to use.

It is balanced to match the ionic composition of PureSperm but you can off course use it with other preparations as well as with untreated ejaculates.

Glycerol is still the cryoprotectant but has been reduced as far as possible to minimize toxicity. Sperm CryProtecII does not contain any material of animal origin such as egg yolk and it does not contain any Human Serum Albumin.

The product is CE-marked and 510k cleared for the US market.

Nidacon held a one day symposium in Barcelona!

Just recently in collaboration with our Spanish distributor, Equipos Médico-Biológicos SA (EMB), Nidacon held a one-day symposium in Barcelona on the preparation of human sperm. Those attending were representatives from about 16 Spanish clinics, a number of sales reps from EMB, and 3 Nidacon reps, but also Dr David Mortimer from Vancouver, Canada, and Dr. Carin Huyser from the Univ. of Pretoria, S. Africa.

Nidacon product registrations

All our products has 510 (k) clearance and are registered for sale in Canada. This has actually been a requirement from our side as a last step before we launch a new human ART product.

The following products have always been CE-marked:

PureSperm 40, PureSperm 80, PureSperm 40/80,

PureSperm 100, PureSperm Buffer and NidOil

We are fully aware of the legislative requirements for our ART products (Medical Devices) and we are as always dedicated to have our products up to standard.

Now with the European directive in place affecting all products containing human derived products for example hSA, we have focused on further development of these products and when required a CE-marking of the product. This is time consuming and extremely costly. The research and development is now starting to pay off and in the beginning of this year we will release new and exciting products.

We will soon have European alternatives for the following hSA containing products: SpermCatch, PureSperm Wash, SpermAssist, SpermCryoProtec, ReadySwim and PureSperm SpeediKit

Comparison confirms PureSperm Superiority

A density gradient comparison, published in Journal of Andrology, Volume 25, No 6, November / December 2004, performed by Researchers from the Laboratoire de Biologie dela Reproduction, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire-Charles Nicolle, Roen, France, confirms PureSperms Superiority.

Six density gradient media were compared (Percoll, PureSperm, Isolate, SpermGrad-100 and Sil-Select Plus) for cryopreserved spermatozoa migration and PureSperm was considered the better alternative.
