PorciPure™ Top and Bottom Layer is a density gradient system used for separating and purifying Porcine spermatozoa. This is a standard procedure used in the purification of sperm. PorciPure™ Top Layer is ready to use in conjunction with PorciPure™ Bottom Layer to compose the layers in the gradient. Together they build two density interfaces at which the sperm will be filtered. The pellet that is retrieved after centrifugation contains only normal purified spermatozoa.

Storage and stability Store unopened bottles at 2 - 40°C, avoid temperatures above or below these values. Under these conditions PorciPure™ Top and BottomLayers have a shelf life of 2 years. The expiry date is shown the labels. Open and close bottles under aseptic conditions. After opening, store the bottles at 2 - 8°C. No antibiotics, unstable additives or preservatives have been added to PorciPure™ Top or Bottom Layer.
Precautions and Warnings -When retrieving the sperm pellets, follow the instructions given in the insert to avoid inadvertent contamination. -To ensure best possible results use aseptic conditions at all times. -Use sealed, buckets or centrifuge tubes during centrifugation to avoid the creation of aerosols. -Clean accidental spills with dampened cloth or paper. PorciPure™ Top and Bottom Layers cause floors and bench tops to be slippery. - PorciPure™ Top and Bottom Layers, do not represent any fire or combustion hazard. A material safety data sheet is available from the manufacturer or distributor.
Other Porcine Products Other products in the Porcine series include the PorciExtend™. This is an extender for Porcine semen that does not contain any animal derived ingredients, and at the same time maximises sperm survival. PorciWash™ is a medium for washing the sperm pellet after density gradient separation with PorciPure™. It also acts as a transfer medium for sperm from semen sample to fertilisation.
