What do our products do?
The density centrifugation technique from Nidacon is based on a silane coated silica colloid in a nutrient salt solution. Density centrifugation of semen separates spermatozoa from the seminal plasma and thereby improves both the quality and the freezeability of animal sperm. The use of the technique makes sperm sexing much more efficient and time saving and the spermatozoa can be refrozen after the procedure. Studies also show an improved fertility if the sperm is prepared with the colloid prior to freezing.
How is this possible?
Density centrifugation separates motile sperm from immotile and dead sperm, immature and senescent sperm, sperm with damaged chromatin, epithelial and immunological cells as well as seminal fluid. Therewith, the motile sperm are also separated from bacterial and viral pathogens, reactive oxygen species and decapacitation factors. Studies show, that just adding antibiotics to extenders, is not sufficient to eliminate the detrimental influence of bacteria on sperm motility, viability and fertility.

Human Grade
All our products are of pharmaceutical, human grade quality, are tested for sperm survival, have low endotoxin levels, and are sterile and aseptically packaged. Our products can be stored at room temperature for one to two years from production date, ensuring minimal wastage.
No risk of contamination
None of our products contain any antibiotics. Since preparing the sperm with a density gradient will remove all bacteria we do not see a need to add antibiotics to the extenders since they tend to be harmful to sperm. The extenders also do not contain any animal derived ingredients, such as, milk powder or egg yolk. This is in order to minimise the risk of cross contamination and spread of disease.
